April 27, 2019

One of the most successful alternative rock act of the 1990s, Alice in Chains may have been grouped together with grunge greats Nirvana and Soundgarden, but they always boasted a harder metal edge than their contemporaries. Their greatest success came in 1992 with the album Dirt, which included the iconic singles 'Would?' and 'Rooster'.

The British musical icon and the godfather of modern alternative music has an influence that cannot be overstated. Always passionate about music, Morrissey began his musical career as the lead singer of the Smiths, writing the classic albums The Queen is Dead and Meat Is Murder with guitarist Johnny Marr.

Indie-rockers Metric have returned with their latest album, Art of Doubt. The synth-pop sounds doing the rounds in music today have rubbed off, but don't dismay, lead vocalist Emily Haines still gives each track the untamed edge synonymous with their sound. Formed in 1998 at Toronto, they're not only one of the few indie-rock bands that can pull of this dance-influenced sound whilst still retaining their original fan-base, but also one of the few bands whose line-up hasn't changed over the years.

Parisian producer and performer Vincent Fenton AKA French Kiwi Juice (FKJ for short) is one of the forerunners of the freshly emerging New French House genre, deftly fusing sample-based electronica with mellow organic elements like jazzy guitar riffs, groove-laden, slow-burning beats, warm wurlitzers and lilting guest vocals. Originally trained as a sound engineer for film, FKJ simultaneously honed his self-taught musical skills, bringing a cinematic quality to the earthy, soulful songs he creates. Don't miss the rising multi-instrumentalist when he hits US shores in early 2019, timed to coincide with the release of his debut eponymous album on March 3rd.

Following their triumphant 2019 Grammy Award nomination for Best Rock Performance, hard-rocking Pennsylvanian quartet Halestorm are keeping up the momentum and hitting the American road this spring. Awarded the accolade for their heavy-hitting lead single 'Uncomfortable' from their 2018 album 'Vicious', the band has honed their penchant for monster choruses, massive riffs and driving rhythms since their formation in 1999, culminating in their bombastic fourth studio offering.
