Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are back to celebrate 20 years of Howl
Never a group to rush things, rock and rollers Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are back with a vengeance this year, after another five-year absence from the live scene, celebrating 20 years of their seminal third record, Howl.
Named after beat icon Alan Ginsberg's poem of the same name, it was a welcome surprise following their garage rock debut and sophomore albums, seeing the group embracing an Americana and folk-influenced sound. NME led the wave of critical acclaim in their review at the time, commenting: "Steeped in country, folk and gospel, Howl' is a primitive cry from the heart of a distant Americana. Where once The Jesus And Mary Chain's surf-noise and early '90s art-wave made up BRMC's signature sound, it's Johnny Cash and early Bob Dylan that now reign supreme."
