New play
Presented by Centaur Theatre Company and creature/creature, this refreshing new play by Florence Longpre and Nicolas Michon, with brand new translation by Johanna Nutter, describes an unlikely bond between Nathan and his tetraplegic neighbour Sarah in the Eastern Townships in the early 80's.
Based on true events, Sarah has been paralysed since she was 8 years old when two boys forced her to drink chlorine. Rendered mute by the chemical burns on her throat, she can only communicate by blinking her eyes. Ten years later, Nathan is drunkenly wandering home from a dance and finds himself drawn to his neighbour. After being caught by her father urinating on the lawn, he is told he must visit Sarah twice weekly as penance. Their strange reunion begins a darkly comic yet poignant exploration of disability, friendship, love, growing up and redemption in this bittersweet coming of age tale.
