Based on Pink Floyd's classic album
In honour of the city's 375th year anniversary, Opera Montreal present a world premiere opera inspired by the iconic Pink Floyd record The Wall. The libretto comes courtesy of Floyd founding member Roger Waters, who has previously toured The Wall around the world as an awe-inspiring theatrical concert, while Julien Bilodeua has composed the score.
The Story of Another Brick In The Wall
Released in 1979, The Wall remains one of the group's most successful and highly regarded works. Inspired by Roger Waters' discomfort with the arena-filling rock band the group had become, the double album deals with concepts of isolation and abandonment, and takes its name from the 'metaphorical wall' that Waters wished to build between himself and the audience.
The narrative of the record follows the character of Pink, whose terrible experiences at the hands of his parents and teachers lead him into a spiral of drugs and infidelity, as he desperately tries to cut himself off from all human contact.
